Alphanote Experiment

This is a project from waaaay back in school days. I created an alphabet out of the visual language of musical notes and written music. I dare say it’s a font, because it really isn’t, but the application I designed it for was interesting. The project was to create an invitation to any event we wanted, real or not. I came up with an instrumental music festival, as everyone I was listening to at the time was purely instrumental. I challenged myself to say something without words (although the end result was words). I created the final layout and then deconstructed it into 3 transparent layers that could potentially each stand alone as a sheet of music (in theory, at least). The idea was that the recipient would receive all the layers mixed up and turned around. It was up to the user to organize the layers to decode the event information.

Here’s what happens when the layers are combined and aligned properly. Please forgive the copy writing. It was early on in school after all!
