Singer/songwriter Dolly Sillito once asked me to design and illustrate the packaging for one of her CDs. The album is titled “Smartbomb for Heartache”, and Dolly wanted to give it a little bit of a comic book feel and portray a dream-like feeling throughout. Missiles blowing up broken hearts, liquid skin, walls attacking cars, they all came into play in this piece. I felt that a stark black and white solution would both express the dream feel Dolly wanted, as well as address tight budget concerns. Each song’s lyrics are hand-written by Dolly in order to portray a more personal feel.
